& Tea Room
As soon as we milled our first sack of grain in June 2005,
we started baking our own bread, cakes and scones.
Our little Tearoom began operating by showcasing the flour in its baked goodies
and continues to do so using a variety of our artisan flours in the cakes, teacakes,
scones, quiches and bread rolls.
With our Classic Bread Baking tutors retiring from teaching, Paul and Fari have given
into numerous requests by our customers to run classes teaching how to make those
delicious bread rolls and cakes found in the Tearoom.
The Windmill and Tearoom provide a delightful relaxed setting for an educational day of
baking and these hands-on classes will have a small number of participants in each
class to maximise learning. They are ideal for those new to baking and want to
try baking bread or cakes with our artisan flour.
Basic Bread and Bread Rolls (£ 80pp)

After the Miller shows you how he makes his famous bread rolls you will get
the opportunity to do the mixing, shaping and baking for yourselves - making 3
different types of bread using various stoneground flours.
Of course artisan baking is not something that can be hurried, so in between your
mixing and baking we should still have time to take a tour of the Windmill and
see where and how the flour is produced.
Sponge Cakes (£ 85pp)

Fari will take you through the techniques of how to make a sponge cake, and will
then guide you through your chosen technique to make a Victoria sponge in a hands-on,
step by step session.
You will then learn how to adapt the recipe to make different types of sponge cakes,
e.g. lemon, chocolate or coffee. Finally, you'll get to ice the cake ready for
taking home to share.
All of our classes start at 9.15 and finish around 3.00pm.
